Wireless microphone systems and audio processing company Lectrosonics has expanded its Aspen Series of DSP matrix audio processors, offering TCP/IP control over Ethernet, unlimited input expandability, real-time clock, 48-channel matrix bus and 1Gbps expansion port.

The SPNTrio combines a matrix mixer with a telephone hybrid and a two-channel power amp for conferencing. It has two codec inputs and a line input, eight mic/line inputs, eight line outputs, and four mic/line outputs. The 1 Gbps port allows unlimited input expansion, and control is available using Ethernet, RS232 or programmable inputs.

At the heart of the system is a proprietary Proportional Gain Algorithm (PGA) for auto-mixing without the use of noise gates, resulting in transparent audio and increased gain before feedback. Five mixing modes are individually selectable for every matrix crosspoint. Every input in the system supports mic- or line-level signals and includes a third-octave noise reduction filter, an eight-notch feedback suppressor, delay, a four-band fourth-order filter set, a dynamic compressor, and two level meters. Phantom power is available on all inputs. Each output includes an eight-stage, fourth-order filter set, delay, dynamic compressor, limiter, and level meter. All inputs and outputs are fully differential.

Programming and access of devices is handled via a single, central point of control through Ethernet, USB, or RS232. The system also allows for simultaneous multi-point third-party (Crestron and AMX) and native control.

Lectrosonics has also released a developer’s kit, enabling the Apple iPad to be used as a control interface for its Aspen processors. The kit comprises a library of faders, knobs, meters and other on-screen objects used for the creation of custom interface designs using Command Fusion’s iViewer software. With an iPad interface, Aspen users can update any system parameter wirelessly using the iPad touchscreen while receiving real-time feedback as to the system’s status.
