DAS Audio has added the cardioid self-powered Mara line array system to its ARA series, alongside theLara and Sara systems. With the launch of the ARA series, the company aims to address international tours, musicals and large-scale events, and establish itself as acontender in applications previously considered out of reach.
Mara, designed for medium to large-scale events, combines a cardioid and symmetrical design with a continuous power of 4.2kW RMS, achieving a maximum SPL of 148dB. Its custom-engineered components include two 10-inch low-frequency drivers, two 8-inch midrange drivers, and two 6-inch drivers configured in a cardioid configuration. HF is handled by two M-78N compression drivers with 3-inch voice coils. The systemoffers two horizontal coverage options, 80º and 100º, suited to a wide variety of acoustic environments and event requirements.
The technology supporting Mara features a six-channel class-D amplifier with a switched-mode power supply and Power Factor Correction (PFC), ensuring stable and efficient performance under varying voltage conditions. The cardioid design provides rear attenuation of up to -12dB in the range of 80Hz to 200Hz, enabling precise sound control and minimizing unwanted emissions on stage.
Mara-Sub is a self-powered cardioid subwoofer incorporating a 21-inch front-facing speaker and an 18-inch rear-facing speaker, both with 4-inch voice coils. This design achieves rear attenuation of -14dB in the range of 32Hz to 125Hz, claiming ‘exceptional’ low-frequency control. Its internal DSP ensures consistent signal optimization, while the robust birch plywood construction with Iso-flex coating guarantees durability in demanding environments. The rigging system seamlessly integrates Mara-Sub with Mara arrays for flexible configurations.
The ARA series, with the addition of Mara and Mara-Sub, represents a comprehensive solution for the professional audio sector. Lara, with 6kW RMS power and amaximum SPL of 150dB, is designed for large-scale events. Meanwhile, Sara, more compact, delivers amaximum SPL of 142dB, for medium-sized venues. The series also includes Point Source solutions, such as the ARA-P12 and ARA-P28, featuring rotatable dispersion patterns of 110º x 50º and 70º x 40º, as well as the ARA-M210 stage monitor, which offers 50º x 70º coverage with a rotatable horn and a maximum SPL of 143dB.
‘We are incredibly proud of the work accomplished with the ARA series,’ says DAS Audio CEO, Javier Navarro. ‘These systems place us among the most important brands in the professional audio industry. While we face highly established markets, we firmly believe that the technology, innovation, and performance of the ARA series will open many doors that once seemed out of reach
All ARA series solutions are supported by Alma, DAS Audio’s intuitive control and monitoring platform. Alma integrates advanced tools such as DASaim, which uses FIR filters to optimise directivity and sound coverage, and Health Check, a feature that allows users to evaluate system conditions through NFC technology. These features ensure reliable performance and simplify system management for any application.
