Earthworks has released the SR40V High Definition Vocal Microphone.

SR40V High Definition Vocal MicrophoneFeaturing a 9mm back-electret transducer with a diaphragm measuring 5microns, the SR40V has a hypercardioid polar pattern and offers a frequency range of 80Hz to 40kHz. With a self-noise of 22dB SPL (A weighted), a sensitivity rating of 10mV/Pa (-40dBV/Pa), and a Peak Acoustic Output of 145dB SPL, the SR40V promises extremely low handling noise with robust performance and output capability.

‘We are extremely proud of this new mic,’ says Bill Norton, Earthworks COO. ‘Earthworks’ dedication to producing what we call True Live Sound has long been a hallmark that defines our entire product line. For quite some time now, music and audio professionals have asked us for a vocal microphone with these characteristics and the SR40V is the result of that endeavor. Everything about this microphone, from its accuracy of sound and the way it feels in the hand to its refined build quality, unite to form a world-class experience that better enables vocalists to showcase their talents in an entirely new light.’

Accoring to the company, ‘Earthworks prides itself on delivering sound quality as close as physically possible to the original live source. Capturing this True Live Sound (TLS) is precisely what differentiates an Earthworks microphone from the competition.’ The SR40V’s technology reckons to deliver extreme accuracy in the time domain, which is essential for harmonics to be reproduced faithfully and not be smeared or distorted. ‘The SR40V achieves the re-creation of the True Live Sound with its revolutionary circuitry by combining flat, extended frequency response with lightning fast impulse response. This circuitry is handcrafted to match each capsule for optimum performance and is precisely what makes the SR40V so unique.’

Each microphone is handmade in the US and features a rugged stainless steel body. The SR40V is expected to be available Q1, 2011. Pricing has not yet been determined.
