API has released the 3122V microphone preamp, offering two channels of API’s signature analogue sound and the same circuit design found in the 3124V and 3124MV, as well as the 312, 512V and 512c mic preamps.
‘The 3122V fills an important role between the best-selling four-channel 3124V and the individual API preamps that can be used in a lunchbox or a 500V chassis,’ says API President, Larry Droppa. “It’s purposely designed for those who require a pair of API mic preamps with an expanded feature set, at an attractive price.’
In addition to the familiar combination of 2520 op-amps and proprietary output transformers, the 3122V includes front and rear panel XLR and quarter-inch inputs (selectable on the faceplate), a fixed-frequency HP filter, Gain and Variable Output Level control, as well as 48V, Pol, and Pad. Rounding out the expansive feature set are the 3:1 Output Transformer Tap and two analogue vu meters with a separate peak LED.
‘Part of the API culture is to listen carefully to our knowledgeable user base in order to determine which new products we should consider offering,’ says API MD, Gordon Smart. ‘Because we’ve had consistent requests for a two-channel, 312-based rackmount solution, we’re convinced the timing is perfect to add the new 3122V to API’s classic line-up of award-winning analogue gear.’
