Audio-Technica has launched ATM355VF condenser instrument microphone, created specifically for high-accuracy, balanced capture of string and woodwind instruments.
Also available in a cH wireless-compatible version as the ATM355VFcH, the new gooseneck model features Audio-Technica’s latest back-electret condenser design, with interchangeable capsules allowing users to choose between cardioid or omnidirectional and hypercardioid elements (sold separately).
The ATM355’s standard cardioid capsule delivers natural acoustic tone with excellent frontal sensitivity and isolation, avoiding pickup of unwanted sound and feedback in live settings.
The microphone’s AT8543 power module connects with a locking four-pin connector (with XLRM output) and features a switchable 80Hz low-cut filter to reduce low-frequency rumble.
A variety of mounts are available for the ATM355 – the microphone ships with violin and flute mounts and a joint adaptor to attach to the gooseneck for use in a wide range of settings. Mounts are designed to ensure minimal contact with the instrument to greatly reduce sound attenuation and prevent any loss in resonance. Contact surfaces are also made of a scratch-resistant material that will not damage instrument surfaces.
The ATM355VF can be connected to Audio-Technica’s cW-style bodypack wireless transmitters, while the ATM355VFcH is compatible with the newer, more compact cH-style transmitters.
