Billed as ‘a true next-gen microphone’, the Lewitt LCT 640 TS is reckoned to be ready to ‘revolutionise the way we think about the recording process’, according to its Austrian manufacturer.
Set to Dual Output mode, the microphone’s front and rear diaphragm follow use independent circuitry to allow any desired polar pattern – omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, supercardioid, fig-8 and everything in between – to be created both before and after recording. Previously recorded material can be changed dynamically by adjusting the polar pattern, and room sound can be added or subtracted. Even turning the microphone’s directivity by 180° is possible.
Recording Mid-Side stereo with only one LCT 640 TS is possible in Dual Output Mode. The polar pattern can be set and changed with Lewitt’s Polarizer plug-in from within a DAW.
In Single Output Mode the LCT 640 TS has all characteristics of a studio multi-pattern condenser microphone. And Lewitt’s Perfect Match technology makes it possible for any two LCT 640 TS to form a matched pair.
Clipping History, four low-cut and pre-attenuation settings round off the feature list of the LCT 640 TS.
