Solid State Logic has announced the SSL Fusion Transformer, the final instalment in its family of Fusion plug-ins
Available now in multiple formats including VST2, VST3, AAX and AU, the plug-in emulates the 600Ω, 1:1-wound under-damped transformer found in the Fusion analogue colouration hardware, offering a combination of HF phase-shift, harmonic distortion and LF roll-off.
The controls and parameters of SSL Fusion Transformer -in go beyond the original hardware version and include a new Shine control that allows augmentation or removal of the high-end sheen and imparts a delicate high-frequency phase shift introduced by the transformer, and an Amount control that can be used amplify the harmonic distortion beyond the effects of the original hardware.
Additionally, Mix allows users to non-destructively dial in the perfect amount of processing, while driving the circuit harder introduces a natural low-end roll off that increases with input level. The LF Extend control switches out the low-frequency roll-off to preserve a weighty low-end and an Eco mode allows reduced latency and CPU-use, for tracking and recording.
‘Our new Fusion Transformer plug-in is a faithful emulation of Fusion’s switchable Transformer circuit and is the perfect way to round off our family of Fusion plug-ins, says Product Manager, Jonathan Sandman. ‘In addition to being able to deliver low-end thickening and high-end sheen to any signal, it is able to deliver exactly the right amount of transformer mojo to vocals, electric guitars, or indeed the entire mix.’
The SSL Fusion Transformer plug-in also includes built-in help functionality, complete with context-aware guidance and information about the plug-in and its controls. It is priced at US$199, and comes loaded with presets from world-class producers and engineers Romesh Dodangoda, Sean Devine and Wez Clarke.
