Telefunken Elektroakustik has announced the Echomixer from Audiopunks, a combination germanium preamp, distortion and spring reverb plug-in.
Modelled an a modified version of the original 1960 Echomixer, the plug-in is further enhanced with DAW workflow features such as daisychaining and flexible spring tanks.
In 1960, Telefunken introduced a germanium preamplifier offering three audio channels and a Hammond IV spring reverb. Working with original vintage units, Audiopunks has recreated these channels and the spring reverb in the Echomixer, adding modern features for use in the DAW realm.
After servicing the units, Audiopunks modified the circuit to allow the ability to daisychain the audio channels to offer ‘an organic and unique germanium distortion’ that can be tweaked to taste.
Audiopunks has meticulously replicated the sound of the original spring tank, capturing details, overtones and other audible nuances. The developers have also incorporated two other popular spring tank modules to meet the requirements of almost any recording situation.
