The Freedman Group – parent company of Røde Microphones – has recruited audio innovator Chris Woolf to become Senior Innovation Engineer for Røde.
Formerly a Senior Engineer for windshield and microphone accessories company Rycote, Woolf is the mind behind the Rycote Lyre shockmount and the Rycote Cyclone windshield system among other noise-reduction solutions, and is regarded a world leader in advanced technology for the control of noise in microphone systems generated by vibration and handling and wind. He has been collaborating with Røde since April 2018, ‘and has already developed some technology that will be revealed very soon’.
‘I am truly excited with what Chris has developed with us at Røde over the last few months, and look forward to being able to reveal what I believe will really shake up this category,’ says Freedman Group Founder and Chairman, Peter Freedman.
‘Røde’s position in the on-camera market – as well as in film, broadcast and in studio recording – places the company in the right place at the right time for innovation in the wind noise and structural borne vibration reduction field,’ says Woolf. ‘The opportunity to work with such a company, one that has unique in-house manufacturing resources to explore new possibilities in the practical science of microphone noise reduction, is wonderful.’
