Carl Rutherford brings extensive theatre experience to his new post, with a background including the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage, and General Manager of the National Youth Music Theatre. As part of Orbital’s expanding project management team, he will be responsible for managing a wide portfolio, across the spectrum of entertainment industry events.
Orbital has a long-standing reputation for handling the most demanding projects – from large-scale live events, to conferences and corporate presentations, working with a cross-section of blue-chip clients from the corporate and industrial sectors, in addition to the live entertainment business. Director of Theatrical Operations, Luke Hyde, heads up Orbital’s Project Management activities, explaining: ‘Orbital’s reputation is based on being able to translate the challenging mix of client requirements, locations and timescales into focused, well co-ordinated implementations. We are delighted to welcome Carl onboard as a valued team member, capable of delivering the first-rate planning and integration skills needed to ensure the smooth running of our often complex projects.’
Lucy Jenkins will work with Rental Manager Phil Dormer in Orbital’s hire department, focusing on expanding the successful Rental Desk as well as easiHire, the recently-launched online service.
She was previously technician and assistant stage manager at The Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, after graduating from the Guildford School of Acting. Lucy will be working with Orbital’s multi-faceted client-base – across professional sound, corporate, amateur dramatics and the education sector. A key focus will be processing the growing volume of enquiries from Orbital’s innovative easiHire service, which provides a 24/7 online rental facility supported by comprehensive product and system data.
