Avid has appointed Mick Brophy as European Sales Manager of its Live Sound division.
Brophy will head Avid’s Europe live sound sales team, with a focus on driving sales of the Avid Venue live sound console range. He brings more than 25 years’ experience in live sound to the post, having spent four years in Barcelona as International Sales & Marketing director of professional products for Vieta, based at SeeSound, which is also the Avid distributor Spain and Portugal.
In this role he drove sales of the Venue product range in Portugal, gaining extensive knowledge of the system and customer base. In addition, he’s held positions at Amek, where he spent 11 years, three as international sales director. He also worked as a consultant for various audio companies, advising them on how to grow their sales. He will be based at Avid’s EMEA headquarters at Pinewood Studios and will report to Paul Hennessy, VP of Sales EMEA.
'The live sound industry is a key area of growth for Avid across Europe, and we’re excited to add someone who has such a wealth of industry experience and knowledge of our products,' says Hennessy. 'In just six years since the first Venue product was launched, it’s now the number one touring console in North America. We’re expecting a busy summer festival season this year with Venue becoming the primary console choice at many major European festivals. The permanent installation market will also be a key focus for us in 2011 and beyond. I’m sure that Mick and his team will do a great job of driving sales of Venue into this growing sector.'
