Theatre design consultancy Charcoalblue has recruited stage and lighting designer, and theatre consultant Steve Roberts as Senior Stage Engineer. ‘Charcoalblue works on some of the UK’s – and the world’s – most innovative theatre builings and I’m delighted to join the team and get started,’ he says.
With more than 25 years’ experience, working in technical theatre in roles including chief electrician, lighting designer, project engineer and senior theatre consultant, Roberts has led a variety of international projects including: The New Holland Concert Hall in St Petersburg, Koener Hall in Toronto, the National Concert Hall in Dublin and the Dubai Opera House. Closer to home, he’s worked on the Royal Festival Hall in London, the London Coliseum, and the Wales Millennium Centre.

Before joining Charcoalblue, Roberts was Senior Technical Consultant for Anne Minors Performance Consultants. More recently he led a commissioning team in the Middle East on behalf of Charcoalblue to complete a prestigious new ten-venue complex in the UAE.
