Joining a small team and reporting to Dean Davoile, Alfie King has taken a flexible support role at RCF in the UK.
Drawing on the broad skillset developed during his time in professional audio, King’s duties will vary from behind-the-scenes admin, accounts and marketing, to front line sales and customer support in the south of England.
King has already enjoyed a long career in music and production. Starting out playing guitar and harmonica in local bands around Aylesbury in his teens, he graduated to helping out behind the sound desk at a local arts centre. He then took the academic route, studying Music Technology at college, and later for a BSc at Birmingham BCU, where places of learning included the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Upon graduating, he combined mixing live sound at local venues with putting in IT infrastructures on the major festival circuit during the outdoor season. ‘But I wanted to get back into the audio industry,’ he says.
Leisuretec Distribution offered him that opportunity, where he came into contact with RCF for the first time, visiting the factory in Italy. ‘Leisuretec was a major customer,’ he continues. ‘I started in frontline sales and e-commerce and from there I moved to technical sales, remaining there for more than five years. I did very well with RCF, and sold a lot of products.’
Remaining in pro audio distribution, King moved to Amber Sound, where he has been Sales & Marketing Manager for the past two years-plus. ‘I had been approached by several other companies over the past year before RCF contacted me,’ he recalls. ‘I liked the people at the company, the way their products sounded, and their value for money at the different price points. I also liked the way the products were designed, for ease and simplicity of use.’
