Follow-Me has appointed Luke Edwards to the post of Designer Relations Liaison UK in support of the company’s growth in the UK market.

With extensive experience in both the creative and technical sides of the live event industry, Edwards will bridge any possible gap between designers, technicians, rental companies and production managers considering using Follow-Me’s performer tracking systems on their shows.

Luke EdwardsEdwards’ journey began in Belgium, where he worked in sound and lighting rentals. From cleaning cables after festivals to project management, his career took a turn toward lighting design, leading him to tour globally with artists such as Gary Numan, Kelis, Jessie J, and Jacob Collier.

After stepping back from touring for health reasons, Edwards transitioned into a freelance role and began working with LED video rental and virtual production, before taking on a designer relations role at Vari-Lite.

‘I’m excited to step into a role, where I can help designers fully understand what our system can offer,’ he says. ‘What excites me most is the opportunity to show the possibilities of lighting design with a system that breaks away from traditional boundaries. We are no longer limited to conventional ways of working with lights, and Follow-Me offers a new and exciting way to enhance performances.’

In his new role, Edwards will focus on educating and empowering UK designers and technicians by providing training, offering demos and facilitating the use of Follow-Me’s products in various live environments. He also focus on creating a meeting spot for demos, where designers and technicians can experience the power of Follow-Me’s automated tracking system first-hand and also support rental houses and in-house venue staff in integrating Follow-Me’s tracking systems into their workflows.

‘Being back in a role where I can help designers achieve their creative vision is incredibly rewarding,’ Edwards continues. ‘I know first-hand the challenges that come with bringing a concept to life, and I’m thrilled to be in a position to help designers feel confident in using Follow-Me technology to make their shows even more innovative.’

‘Luke is joining our team to forge a much closer connection with our current and growing user and client base within the UK,’ says Follow-Me MD, Marc Van der Wel. ‘With his technical and creative skills, he will be able to contribute significantly to what designers and technical crews want to know and learn. With Luke in the team, it will help to maintain and enhance our reputation of offering the best performer tracking features and user support.’
