Bringing an extensive career in sound engineering and pro audio marketing/brand management, Paul O’Farrell-Stevens has been appointed Solid State Logic Marketing Manager for Music Products.
‘With such an exceptional background in recording and marketing for the music and pro audio industries, Paul is the perfect addition to our team,’ says Dan Duffell, SSL Head of Marketing. ‘I look forward to working with Paul to grow SSL’s legacy and vision.’
Prior to joining SSL, O’Farrell-Stevens provided public relations, marketing and brand-management support for several global pro audio brands, including Monster Cable, Ixos Audio Products and QED Audio Products. He has also provided freelance marketing and design consultancy for a number of consumer electronics manufacturers and distributors, such as Castle Acoustics, Multi Enterprises and Recoton A/V Distribution.
Before embarking on a career in communications, O’Farrell-Stevens was a recording engineer at several SSL-equipped recording studios. He made his first contact with SSL at London’s CBS Recording Studios, where he worked his way up the ranks – from tea boy to recording engineer. During his time at CBS, he worked with renowned artists including Michael Jackson, Liza Minnelli and George Michael, as well as with George Martin.
After CBS, O’Farrell-Stevens became chief recording engineer at Comforts Place Recording Studios – a residential facility equipped with an SSL G-Series console – working with The Cure, Genesis and Paul Weller. He then became a freelance engineer, working at Abbey Road, The Hit Factory, Real World, Olympic and Hook End Manor –eventually leading him to his brand management at QED Audio Products.
‘The years I have spent working as a recording engineer will provide me with the unique ability to recognise the needs of SSL’s music customers,’ he says. ‘I plan to combine those skills with my pro audio communications experience to further develop SSL’s position in the industry.’
