Orbital Sound has appointed Adam Thorneycroft to the newly-created position of Operations Director – ‘reflecting Orbital’s growth across both rental and sales sectors, and its increasing reach into Europe, North America and the Far East’.
Thorneycroft joins the existing four-man board with immediate effect, working alongside MD Chris Headlam; Event and Comms Director Eric Simpson; Technical Director Bill Addison; and Sales Director Tom Byrne. His primary role is to oversee all operational aspects and processes of Orbital’s rental business, across warehousing, engineering and logistics.
Prior to joining Orbital in 2007, Thorneycroft gained several years’ experience working as a production stage manager around the world, while his initial duties at Orbital involved establishing the engineering departments in the company’s UK and North America warehousing operations. He is also closely involved with Orbital’s apprenticeship scheme.
‘This is an important step for Orbital and reflects the enormous contribution that Adam has already made to the smooth operation of our business,’ says Chris Headlam. ‘Adam has ably demonstrated his immense organisational skills, and has earned considerable respect throughout our staff. We have created the role of Operations Director to ensure that as our company expands and inevitably becomes more complex, its efficiency and smooth running can be maintained. Adam’s responsibilities sit across Orbital’s hire, project management, engineering and distribution aspects, and he is a very welcome addition to our board of directors.’
