Part of ongoing growth and expansion into new territories, international theatre consultancy practice, Theatreplan, has announced several appointments. New to the team are Wioletta Ziemba as Practice Manager for the company’s London office, John Young as Compliance and Training Consultant and Revit Technician, Paolo Ribichesuz.
Ziemba has replaced Paul Connolly, who is now managing the Theatreplan’s Hong Kong office. An experienced office manager and passionate about the performing arts, Ziemba is also fluent in six languages. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail are much appreciated in the London office, which is home to the largest of Theatreplan’s three teams.
‘Keeping track of all the projects we have on the go at any one time and providing the necessary support to our consultants out in the field is a mammoth task at the best of times,’ says Hong Kong Business Manager, Paul Connolly. ‘As well as being extremely organised, you need to be able to keep a level head and a sense of humour! It’s an absolutely pivotal position, and I’m pleased to say that Wioletta has proved herself to be equal to the task and is now an essential member of the team.’
Young joins Theatreplan as an experienced theatre professional with a 30-year career in the industry. He brings a range of specialist services, including fire risk management, staff training and project management. Having spent the past 15 years as Head of Technical Services for the Ambassador Theatre Group in Milton Keynes overseeing the technical management, capital projects, training and infrastructure for the group’s UK and overseas venues, The subject of training is particularly close to his heart as, in 2013, Young introduced technical theatre apprenticeships with ATG and now chairs the Creative Venue Technician Trailblazer Apprenticeship Consortium.
‘Having spent well over 15 great years with ATG, I felt it was time for the next challenge,’ Young says. ‘The position with Theatreplan is perfect as I get to utilise all of the skills and experience I have amassed over the years but in a completely different context, which is both refreshing and inspiring. Theatreplan has recognised the merit of training, even amongst highly skilled professionals such as theatre consultants, and I am very pleased to fulfil such an important role.’
Paolo Ribichesu joins the design team, supporting BIM (Building Information Modelling) Manager Marian Mihaescu. Ribichesu was initially focused on creating 3D models for a 15,000-seat arena in Macau before moving onto other new projects. A graduate in architecture from the Politecnico di Torino, he has long nurtured a passion for CAD design, 3D modelling and the convergence of design and technology ‘Paolo is a techno-geek and is totally at home with the latest 3D design technology,’ says Mihaescu.
