The pairing of Chennai-based distributor Sound Land and Kerala-based pro audio/lighting rental company Swapna Sounds are reporting that the system has received ‘such a great response from the professionals’ that have attended the tour.
The heart of the PalcoPlus system is the RA16two-way, line-source element. This compact enclosure will handle 1kW of continuous power per unit, in a package approximately the same size of a 6U-high outboard rack case, and wighing 18kg. Palcoplus’ innovative sub-bass unit RAB1815 uses a distinctive, dual-transducer configuration, with one 18-inch woofer in a ported reflex configuration and a second, 15-inch woofer loaded by a folded horn. Each woofer can handle up to 1.6kW of continuous power (total 3.2kW), and the entire system is capable of delivering 136dB SPL.
The speakers are powered by the PLM6800 four-channel, class-D amplifier, which is able to deliver up to 1.7kW @ 4Ω/channel and weighs 11.5kg. It combines all of the functions of the LM24 digital controller (loudspeaker management system) and features a switch-mode power supply with power factor correction that can operate on mains voltages from 85V to 270V AC (50/60Hz).
