Calrec’s Audio Primer is now in print – and highly commended by Fast-and-Wide.
Addressing a range of audio topics, the 64-page book is a friendly guide to the fundamentals of broadcast audio. According to Calrec Technical Author Peter Walker, ‘there is a growing group of manufacturers who are sharing their knowledge and understanding with the industry, such as apt, Belden, Dolby, DPA, DTS and Genelec, and we are pleased to be part of that movement’.
The book covers EQ, filters and dynamics, what a mix minus system is, what M-S decoding is, how downmixing works and when you might use these techniques. We also cover basic digital audio theory including sine waves, phase, polarity, binary numbers, sampling and clocking.
