Leeds-based Sticks & Glass has opened new facilities five online finishing suites and a focus on high-end TV postproduction. With Leeds becoming a UK hot-spot for creative and TV production, and already being the heartland of rugby, this expansion brings capacity for larger projects as well as providing future and local filmmakers with a full finishing house.
While many in postproduction have been devising ways of work remotely in order to keep the industry moving under coronavirus pandemic restrictions, Sticks & Glass has used the opportuninty to invest in expansion of services. The new facilities include a Dolby Atmos Dubbing Suite, Da Vinci Colour Room, MCR/Gallery and five online suites, bringing clients the latest tools and a greater flexibility for immersive and more authentic opportunities to tell their stories.
‘We can’t wait to see how our clients will utilise the new facilities,’ says co-owner Adam Bennett. ‘The upgrade creates endless opportunities for us to support even more projects by providing something that the growing market needs as it scales up. With the recent news of IMG joining Sticks & Glass up here in Leeds, the region is certainly growing and we are definitely now in a position to support that growth.’
Sticks & Glass sponsors the Leeds Youth Film Festival and INDIs film festival to help lower barriers to younger people by getting them into a professional environment.
‘The new facilities offer graduates a higher standard of studio in both picture and sound. We love to support local film makers by giving them access to our studios to enable them get to the next step of their careers and help make them more employable’ says co-owner, Verdy Martin Oliver. ‘We think it’s a real missed opportunity when people studying are desperate to get their hands on high end, industry standard kit but don’t have access to industry facilities that are on their doorstep.’
