Musician and engineer Joe Bregande recently competed a do-it-yourself home mix room in his Nashville In My Room studio, featuring a PhantomFocus PFM UHD-1000 Monitor System from Carl Tatz Design (CTD).
Over the years, Bregande had set up a studio everywhere he has lived, and when he and his family moved into a new home outside of Nashville, Tennessee, he made up his mind to finally get his monitoring right and called in Carl CTD – and was inspired by the demo he experienced at one of the designer’s PhantomFocus MixRooms in Music City.
‘Joe had a small space within which to work, so we were able to make suggestions as to acoustic treatment placement using the products he already had and recommended building some others to make the room PhantomFocus-ready,’ explains studio designer and PhantomFocus creator, Carl Tatz. ‘Although the room’s dimensions were limited, we can always calculate and guarantee the sweet spot using the immense power of the PhantomFocus protocols and processing.’
‘I’m thrilled to be hearing things as they truly sound after years of spending money on “magical” equipment that never quite achieved what I had hoped for,’ Bregande comments. ‘If you want great sounds, your first step should be to make sure you are accurately able to hear what you’re recording and mixing. I could have saved so much time and money if I had heard the PhantomFocus System sooner.’
