Formerly The Blue Grotto, Studio 78 continues the studio’s legacy as one of Nashville’s premium mix facilities and hosting tracking dates with its spacious and acoustically desirable live room and and other amenities.
Now co-owned by house engineer Daewoo Kim and producer Phil Barfoot, this famous Music City Carl Tatz PhantomFocus MixRoom studio has been upgraded to include a dedicated piano room, B3 room, Iso room and musicians’ lounge, along with an SSL Origin mixing console with a host of new outboard gear.
‘The attention to detail by Carl Tatz and his team is second to none,’ Kim says. ‘And it shows in the products that are produced here. There is no second guessing when music leaves this room.
‘Thanks to our Dual PhantomFocus Monitor System with the PFM UHD-1000 Master Reference Monitors and Dynaudio M3 mains, it’s enjoyable to record here, enjoyable to mix here, and most importantly, it’s enjoyable to listen to music that was produced here outside of the studio.’
Barfoot adds: ‘Our PhantomFocus MixRoom studio exceeds all our expectations of excellence in every way. Carl Tatz is one of the top designers and studio visionaries in the business, and we could not be more pleased with the PhantomFocus products and the acoustical design of our studio.
