Abbey Road Studios and Waves Audio have established a long-term strategic partnership allowing Waves’ R&D department to collaborate with Abbey Road engineers on a series of audio plug-ins.
‘Since the early 1990s, Waves has been developing groundbreaking plug-ins for the audio industry,’ says Jonathan Smith, SVP at Abbey Road Studios. ‘We are very proud to be working closely with Waves in the creation of exciting new products based on Abbey Road Studios’ legendary equipment and expertise.’
Abbey Road has been home to landmark recordings by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Muse, Oasis and Sting among many others. Its relationship with EMI and the quality of its engineers kept the studio at the cutting edge of recording technology.
With mixing consoles and outboard gear built by EMI’s R&D division to meet the studios’ requirements, much of its equipment was only available to EMI studios and never sold commercially. The partnership with Waves is a new step in opening the ‘Abbey Road sound’ to artists, recording engineers, producers and studios around the world.
‘Abbey Road Studios is, without a doubt, the most famous recording complex in the world,’ says Waves CEO, Gilad Keren. ‘We are thrilled to be able to continue our collaboration with them on what is sure to be an outstanding series of audio plug-ins.’
