The latest installation of Void Acoustics sound is presently to be found at a new Dorset waterside leisure venue and elegant beach bar – Rockwater on Branksome Chine Beach. The latest venture from entrepreneur Luke Davis. Void Acoustics loudspeakers are in use across the venue, which includes wellness and fitness offerings, a restaurant and bar, and a roof terrace.
Marquee AV designed and installed the audio systems, having been involved in the project from its inception. This involved working with architect RTSAN and a constructor, renovating and expanding a pre-existing building.
‘We presented several options for the sound system, but when Luke, the owner of Rockwater, saw the portfolio of venues where Void Acoustics products are installed, he was clear he wanted a Void system to be designed for the venue,’ recalls Marquee AV’s Senior Project Manager. ‘I was very happy with Luke’s decision, as I knew Void Acoustics would deliver precisely what he wanted.’
There were audio design and specification challenges to overcome for the venue’s interior, however. Rockwater’s low ceilings required Marquee AV to understand RTSAN Architects’ design aspirations to minimise overall design intrusion and avoid impeding on the quality of the audio system. Void Acoustics’ Venu 8s loudspeaker series was chosen to discreetly locate speakers with minimal impact to the overall aesthetic, while offering the best audio coverage possible.
The Void Acoustics Venu 8 V2s were complemented by Venu 6 V2 high-end compact loudspeakers and the Venu 208 ultra compact subwoofers, all in significant numbers, and in subtle black enclosures. Marquee AV and RTSAN designed purpose-built enclosures to house the Venu 208 subs and match the interiors to ensure quality bass delivery in all areas.
Rockwater’s requirements included a versatile system for daytime background music, transferring to a higher performing system for evenings and weekends. Driving the sound system throughout are a number of Void Acoustics energy saving Bias Q1 and Bias Q2 amplifiers.
‘The Void Acoustics system is one of the best sound systems I have ever worked with, and it gels extremely well with the venue,’ says Rockwater Group Operations Director, Roberto Paterna. ‘The quality of the sound is outstanding. The feedback has been great, and the systems are very easy to use.’
Rockwater is the latest example Void Acoustics’ ability to employ day-to-night systems for a multi-purpose installation. ‘Void Acoustics has a strong brand presence globally for multi-activity beachfront venues,’ says Void Acoustics MD, Alex Skan. ‘With a diverse product range to suit day-to-night, indoor-outdoor spaces, we are well positioned to answer complex briefs with efficient, stylish, versatile systems for these types of venues. We were thrilled when one of our systems was recommended for this beautiful space just down the coastline from our HQ here in the UK.’
