Multi-platinum and Grammy award-winning engineer and owner of Cool Springs Mix studio in Franklin, Tennessee, Bob Bullock recently upgraded his Carl Tatz Design (CTD) PhantomFocus MixRoom with the company’s new PFM UHD-1000p MkII Master Reference Monitors.
A long-time PhantomFocus user, Bullock made the decision to upgrade after experiencing a PFM 1000 demo. ‘After already having the most accurate control room that I have ever worked in by Carl Tatz Design, I went to a demo of Carl’s own PhantomFocus line of studio monitors and was even more blown away with the imaging and articulate detail of the system,’ he says.
The UHD-1000P MkII is the latest addition to the Carl Tatz Design PFM 1000 line and, like the entry-level HD-1000 monitor, uses a Straight-Line internal crossover that requires only two channels of amplification per pair compared to the premium UHD-1000a bi-amplified model, which requires four channels. The UHD-1000p (passive) shares the same wide imaging as its bi-amp sibling, but at a more affordable price point.
