In a strategic move intended to ‘redefine its presence in the professional audio industry’, famous heritage pro-audio brand Cadac is to separate into two distinct, independent business units – Cadac Consoles and Cadac Immersive – reflecting the current evolution of its product development activities.

Cadac Consoles will retain its focus on the development of advanced digital audio mixing systems, with product development, sales and brand management remaining in the UK. The business is rebranding under a new logo and corporate identity, with a renewed product offering along with an all-new website.

The business is rebranding under a new logo and corporate identity, with a renewed product offering and an all-new website.

Cadac Consoles effectively paused commercial activity at the outset of the Covid-19 emergency, retiring its CDC series product lines, but continuing development work on a new-generation product line. The near three-year intensive R&D program has delivered a new Cadac Consoles flagship product line, the CM-Series.

The CM-J50 96-input, 56-bus live mixing console and range of compact ‘intelligent’ remote stage racks, together with an all-new iPad app and offline editor, comprise the initial release phase of the CM-Series mix platform. Boasting robust new hardware and a further evolution of the Cadac user interface, it provides expanded connectivity, control and flexibility in a familiar form factor that is significantly faster, smaller and lighter than its forebears. Combining its intuitive workflow with high audio quality and latency management, the CM-J50 promises ‘an unparalleled mixing experience’.

‘While we have kept a very low profile throughout the tumult of recent years, behind the cloak of silence we have been solely focused on developing our next-generation mixing system,’ says Director of Marketing & Business Operations, James Godbehear. ‘A development that stays true to our core values of a no-compromise audio first design, coupled with a powerful but highly intuitive GUI for control of very complex functionality.’

‘We are actively exploring the possibilities of integrating immersive technology into the CM System and the exciting potential of object based mixing,’ says Emily Watson, Head of R&D. ‘This would open up huge creative opportunities for the sound engineer with this fascinating approach to mixing.’

Headquartered at its Beijing R&D facility of parent company Sound King, Cadac Immersive will focus on proprietary standalone immersive audio products that employ advanced technologies and the exploit company’s industry expertise in audio spatialisation to address the growing demand for immersive and 3D audio experiences in theatre, fixed installation and cinema applications. The Cadac Immersive solution is based on a High-Order Ambisonics algorithm, ensuring isotropic audio reproduction that closely matches the natural binaural auditory characteristics of the human ear. The initial MAP and CP range of units, along with intuitive control software, provides true creative control of the 3D audio environment.

‘This strategic rebranding reflects Cadac’s commitment to staying at the forefront of audio innovation and responding to the evolving needs of the industry,’ says Godbehear. ‘It is testament to our dedication to pushing the boundaries of audio technology and delivering products that empower creativity. The Cadac Consoles and Cadac Immersive business units will collectively contribute to help shape the future of professional audio, providing unparalleled solutions for audio driven applications worldwide.’
