French manufacturer AuviTran has incorporated Merging Technologies’ Zman audio network module into its AxC-AES67 interface, bringing low-latency and bridging capacities to applications in Ravenna/AES67 ecosystems.
The new interface is the latest addition from AuviTran to its flagship Audio ToolBox product line. The AxC-AES67 is fully compatible with AES67 and Ravenna protocols, and supports industry standard SMPTE2110, ST2022-7 Seamless Protection Switching and NMOS IS-04 + IS-05.
The Merging Technologies Zman module provides the interface card with efficient media transport in a compact form factor, and adds processing capabilities, with two ARM CPUs and FPGA real-estate. It also supports high-resolution sample rates, up to 32 Ravenna/AES67 streams, channel-based audio routing and ultra-low latency.
‘Merging’s Zman was mainly chosen for its versatility and overall quality,’ explains AuviTran founder, Yves Ansade. ‘The component comes with an eval kit, which initiated dialogue and support from the Merging team. This valuable step helped us in completing AuviTran’s AxC-AES67 interface. Merging are renowned for their high-end products comparable to the quality level of AuviTran and Digigram. Also, our companies are practically neighbours, which was great for us as we encourage working with local/regional partners with high added value know-how.’
‘We are very pleased that AuviTran has joined our OEM customer base,’ adds Merging Technologies Global OEM Manager, Rune Jacobsen. ‘The company has been excellent to work with during the implementation process, and it’s great that we have some interesting use cases to show what the Zman boards and our AES67 knowledge brings to our OEM customers.’
The AxC-AES67 was recently installed in the Lausanne’s Millennium Center in Switzerland, a project that required the implementation of high-quality networked audio management for immersive experiences. The venue was facing problems with latency and channel number limitation, which left staff with an incomplete and unreliable system. As a result, the venue is among the first in the world to successfully manage such a complex audio set-up.
AuviTran provided a transformative solution using several AuviTran ToolBoxes and AxC cards, including the new AxC-AES67, which was part of a system that resolved compatibility issues at the venue, and significantly improved system performance. Additionally, AuviTran also supplied the AxC-AB and AxC-Dante for full audio synchronisation.
AuviTran’s adoption of Zman further cements Merging Technologies’ commitment to fostering the adoption of AES67 networking capabilities. By making all required functions available via a simple to integrate module, Merging can help OEMs take advantage of this rapidly evolving market.
