JPEG 2000 development toolkit company Kakadu Software and pixel generation, processing and management technology specialist 7thSense have become members of the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS).

‘We’re thrilled to announce Kakadu Software and 7thSense as the newest AIMS members,’ says AIMS Board of Directors’ member and Marketing Working Croup chair, Andrew Starks. ‘Their expertise in JPEG 2000 technology and high-performance media server solutions, respectively, represent a significant addition to our collective endeavour to foster the adoption of open standards and interoperability in the media and entertainment industry.’

new AIMS membersBased in Sydney, Australia, Kakadu Software offers a toolkit for image compression and manipulation, including video encoding, satellite image management, image archiving and medical imaging. It encompasses Part 1 (ISO/IEC 15444-1), Part 2 (coding and file format extensions), Part 3 (motion JPEG 2000), Part 9 (JPIP) and Part 15 (HTJ2K) of the JPEG 2000 standard.
