Launched on 1 September, the Austrlian SBS and ABC video-on-demand services have now been extended to include support for the Xbox Live games console platform.
The result of a collaboration between the two public service proadcasters and Microsoft, the new service will include ‘more than 90 per cent of primetime programming’ from SBS One and SBS Two, along with ABC’s iView, which claims 5.7m video plays per month via different platforms.
‘Voice and gesture control via Microsoft Xbox Kinect can make browsing and discovering content on ABC iView even more engaging and interactive, and will prove particularly appealing to younger audiences,’ says ABC iView & Internet Broadcasting Manager, Sally O’Donoghue.
SBS On Demand and ABC iView join FoxTel’s live-streamed and catchup TV channels, which took to the air on the Xbox 360 in November 2010.
