With an increase of 8.5 per cent on 2011, this year’s Plasa Focus: Leeds claimed a record 2,122 visitors.
Along with a total of 2,680 attendees, the two-day show provided the platform for the UK debut of the Yamaha CL Series of digital mixing consoles. Among other new equipment to be seen were Midas’ Generation-II Software and XL48 ‘digi-log’mic preamp, Sennheiser’s XS Wireless Series, Studio Spares’ M1000 studio headphones and HK Audio’s Lucas Nano 300 loudspeaker system. FBT Audio also used the show to announce its Installed Sound division, while Canford added Roland to its expanding range of distributed pro audio brands.
Alongside new and current equipment, the show provided its established Professional Development Programme, which was divided into Special Interest seminars and Exhibitor Driven training and demonstrations. The programme extended from a six-member panel of experts debating the future role of the lighting designer from the Association of Lighting Designers and Leeds University, to a demonstration of how and why loudspeakers produce what they do in ‘Can You Hear Me At the Back?’ from d&b audiotechnik, where there was standing room only.
The education sector was represented by institutions as far afield as the University of Glamorgan to colleges in Cumbria.
The details for Plasa Focus: Leeds 2013 have now been announced, with the show taking place at the Royal Armouries Museum and Saviles Hall from 30 April to 1 May.
