Already in use on the Beethoven Rocks tour, Eko Geluid & lichttechniek recently took delivery of a massive Outline point-source loudspeaker system.
The purchase was prompted by tour, for which the Silvolde-based rental company needed a very powerful and compact stack PA system. After testing, the Outline system proved itself on performance, low weight and small size.
‘Nowadays, it seems the market only thinks in terms of line arrays, but I can assure you that on many occasions a well-balanced conventional stack PA system is still a better choice than a poorly positioned line array system,’ says Eko’s owner, Erik Koster. ‘The bands we serve all demand very high audio quality and Outline delivers just that.’
Eko’s Outline system comprises eight Doppia II 5040, two Doppia II 9075 and qw DBS 18-2 subwoofers, all driven by nine Outline T-Series amps (5 & 11) with signal processing by an Outline Genius 24.
and weighs 55kg, in spite of its four large-diameter components and the sturdy fibreglass waveguides loading the mid-high frequencies (LF 2 x 12-inch/MF 1 x 10-inch/HF 1 x 3-inch). It has a peak SPL of 139dB @ 1m with a frequency response of 61Hz to 19.7kHz.
‘Outline is one of the few pro audio brands manufacturing powerful conventional stack PA systems as well as high performance line arrays,’ says Axel Nagtegaal, owner of The Audio Specialists (Outline’s distributor for Benelux and Germany). ‘We realise there’s an on-going demand for these systems and Outline’s Doppia combined with DBS subs form an extremely powerful but easy to work with system that fulfils this demand.’
