GigantSound makes powerplay in Poland

AfromentalGigantSound Letus recently used a large number of Powersoft K Series amplifiers to drive a JBL VerTec PA rig for a 200,000-strong audience on the square near Stadium Narodowy in Warsaw.

‘We decided to use 64 Powersoft K10 amps to drive a 96 JBL VerTec cabinets (low, mid, high) and 32 Powersoft K20 amplifiers which powered 88 subs,’ says company owner Jurek Taborowski. ‘That’s a gigantic amount of power – but the concert was performed live, and the Square is a huge space.

‘We knew that the 15-minute firework show would bring in a lot more people, so we had to have an adequate supply of power.’

The amount of power was more than sufficient, he reports, due to the extraordinary efficiency of the sound system and technical skills of the GigantSound Letus team.

Performing on stage were Polish rock stars T.Love, Afromental and Big Cyc, along with British singer John Newman and his band. ‘We had more than 1.2 million Watts of green Powersoft audio power, fed from two 500kW generators and one 220kW generator on delay lines,’ Taborowski says. ‘This dramatically affected the dynamic and sound quality across the huge square.’
