Theatre sound design and rental specialist Autograph Sound Recording has added a further package of EM Acoustics EMS-51 loudspeakers to its inventory, making a total of 239 cabinets. This is in addition to an EM inventory that includes i-8 & i-12 subwoofers, as well as EMS-81 and EMS-121 full-range loudspeakers.
‘We decided to invest in EMS-51s as they fill a very particular niche in our inventory,’ explains Autograph Rental Director, Scott Arnold. ‘EMS-51 constitutes a versatile, cost-effective delay, surround or fill speaker that is robust and delivers great sound with high SPL performance, and doesn’t require dedicated processors or amps. This batch will be used on a range of productions from a variety of well-known sound designers including Edward Scissorhands by Paul Groothius; Little Shop of Horrors by Richard Brooker; Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time UK tour by Ian Dickinson; and Cats at the London Palladium by Greg Pink.’
‘We have known Ed [Kinsella] and Mike [Wheeler] from the very beginning, and have enjoyed working with them and seeing EM Acoustics transform from a fledgling start-up to a reliable and well recognised British brand,’ says Autograph Financial Director Duncan Bell. ‘They have consistently developed great sounding speakers from the 51 right up to the exceptional Halo-C line array that have gained some serious traction in a highly competitive market. Our sister company, Autograph Sales & Installations has an equally strong relationship with EM Acoustics, and their teams regularly install EM products into prestigious theatre venues across the UK. There is no doubt that EM Acoustics can now be considered as one of the premier brands in the theatre and live entertainment venue market.’
