Media Prima

Central to the renovation of its facility in Glenmarie, Shah Alam Malaysia’s leading media group has installed a Stage Tec Crescendo as its main main audio broadcast console. Focused on television and radio services, the Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima) group includes various local free-to-air TV stations, including TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9.

‘In line with the expansion and transition to HD broadcast and surround-sound production on our terrestrial, IPTV and digital media platforms, a reliable professional broadcast mixer that is able to deliver high quality audio is a necessity,’ says Media Head of Audio Engineering, Mohd Jamli. ‘We have tested Crescendo and its bigger brother Aurus on various productions, including the music competitions Mentor and Anugerah Juara Lagu, and were satisfied with quality, flexibility and reliability.’

The console has provided the staff with better operational workflow and more headroom to expand their creativity. It connects to the existing equipment via an integrated network, using a Nexus routing system to provide high-grade microphone preamps and individual mic control for monitoring and FOH. All connection and audio distribution is via proprietary fibre-optics, supporting up to 256 audio/control channels and Dante AoIP networked to FOH and foldback audio mixers on the studio floor. This provides a clean installation that is easy to manage, troubleshoot and recover from any possible point of failure.

According to Senior Audio Director of operation Mr Azrin, the acquisition of the new Stage Tec Crescendo marks a new beginning of Media Prima’s commitment of delivering broadcast quality 5.1 surround sound to their customer, in-line with the expected transition to a nationwide DTTB service soon.

‘The Mediagroup has always been and will continue to be a company that delivers high-quality equipment and top of the line service to our end-users,’ says Advon Tan, Sales Director of Stagetec Asia. ‘The support level that we provide ensures that the customer is always on the right path to creating wonderful mixes and worry-free operation.’

The new facility will begin using Stage Tec’s Crescendo in various in-house productions, delivering HD quality video and 5.1 surround-sound in line with Malaysia’s prgramme.
