In 2024, B&C introduced the DH350 and DH450 compression drivers, featuring a new HLX phase plug design. These phase plugs have a central channel that is twisted to add the length required to match the outer channels. This design claims significant benefits including increased active diaphragm area, minimised diameter, lower 1kHz crossover point, lower weight, lower distortion and reduced cost.
B&C is now incorporating compact, made-to-measure heat sinks for each model in the series. The resulting DH350H and DH450H benefit from significant gains in power handling and long-term reliability. The bew heat sinks allow the drivers to be mounted individually in almost any orientation, or in tight groups where multiple drivers are being applied to a single wave guide.
‘The HLX Series drivers have caught the attention of some of the worlds best speaker designers,’ says B&C Chief Marketing Officer Ron Tizzard. ‘They appreciate the fact that these unique drivers are small, quite cost effective, and natural sounding. The new heat sink enhanced versions are a welcome addition to the family, expanding the range of applications and eliminating the need for expensive, custom heat management solutions.’
The DH350H and DH450H will be available in spring 2025.
