Beyma has replaced its SM line of woofers with the WR family, which comprises three newly designed low-frequency drivers: 10-inch (10WR300), 12-inch (12WR400) and 15-inch (15WR400). The SM Series will be discontinued in January 2016.
The new woofers promise competitive features and high-performance, using a ceramic magnet and for a wide range of uses, from low frequency to mid-bass applications.
The 10WR300 is designed with a 2-inch copper coil and features a balance of power handling, linear response and sensitivity, through its use of an optimised FEA motor structure and MMSS technology. It delivers an optimum response in compact bass reflex cabinets and offers an extended frequency response.
The 12WR400 and 15WR400 have been designed with 3-inch copper coil and also feature an extended and linear response, which allows a correct coupling with a midrange or a compression driver depending on the system architecture and needs of the application. The FEA optimised motor structure and MMSS technology are also used in these models, providing efficiency and low distortion. The result in low-frequency is optimum in small sized vented cabinets and the performance in a wide frequency range and its tonal accuracy in mid frequencies allow these two speakers to be a perfect choice for a wide range of professional applications.
Beyma believes that the WR line presents a ‘clear improvement in several important aspects over the SM family, mainly in performance and frequency response linearity’. Additionally, the linear behaviour of large displacement designs improves the distortion due to nonlinearities. In the 10-inch power handling has been improved and offers more reliable performance in high humidity conditions over previous models.
