Orbital Sound has appointed Andy Simmons as its Director of Sales, to develop the company’s long-term sales plan with full use of the expertise within the organisation.
Simmons brings more than 25 years’ experience of international sales and marketing from within the pro audio sector, having worked at Crest Audio, XTA Electronics, Peavey and KV2 among other companies.
‘At Orbital, we have real passion for what we do and are always looking to add extra elements that enhance our service,’ says MD, Chris Headlam. ‘With Andy’s arrival, we are focusing on how we innovate within the whole sales field, on the basis that we are already a well-established and successful supplier with a great line-up of world-beating brands. We are one of very few who have genuine hands-on product experts – all fully capable of offering combined technical, practical and consultancy expertise on a brand-by-brand, or individual product basis. This dedicated knowledge base is something that we believe is essential with the degree of complexity involved in modern audio equipment. Andy brings an exciting new dimension to our team, and a clear vision of how to achieve our strategic objectives. It’s great to have him on board.’
‘Orbital has a tremendous reputation and a unique set of highly-skilled specialists – there aren’t many sales companies you can go to in this industry and talk with staff who have actually been in the field using the products that they’re selling,’ Simmons says. ‘You’re not talking with sales people at Orbital, but with project managers that have worked on multiple shows and who have the knowledge and experience to help you make decisions. It’s my role to capitalise on those skills and build the team still further, developing Orbital’s sales structure to broaden its market scope, widen its choice of premium brands, and extend its geographical reach. I believe there is a real opportunity to grow Orbital’s strategic sales capability, adding on-the-road regional sales support to our unique product and training skillsets. Above all, I relish the prospect of contributing to Orbital’s spirit of innovation, and to the business as a whole. We have some exciting plans, and a real enthusiasm to put them into action.’
