Having recently opened offices in Hong Kong and Sydney, the Theatreplan consultancy has added team members and launched a new website.
Practice Manager Paul Connolly has relocated from his post in London to manage the Hong Kong office, where he will work alongside Robin Auld and new Project Liaison Officer, Ellen Young. He will be responsible for business development and marketing initiatives, and will support Auld on the West Kowloon Cultural District and other projects.
‘We are working on two prestigious building projects and are currently speaking with a number of local architects about new project opportunities,’ Connolly says. ‘We’re also delighted to welcome Ellen Young onboard. In addition to her musical background and administrative capabilities, Ellen – who was born in Taiwan – is a bilingual English and Mandarin speaker with extensive experience of Chinese culture. She will be an extremely valuable asset to the team in Hong Kong.’
The Sydney office also has a new team member in Bosco Tan, who joins founder Director of Theatreplan, Brad Maiden. Tan has spent the past ten years working on the design, implementation and management of major technology projects in the cultural, government and commercial sectors, and joins Theatreplan from Rutledge A/V, one of Australia’s best established technology integration companies.
Brad Maiden established Theatreplan after serving as technology projects manager at the Sydney Opera House: ‘I’ve always enjoyed Theatreplan’s innovation, focus on real-client collaboration and commitment to excellence in all areas of theatre technology design and auditorium planning,’ he says. ‘I am also pretty excited to welcome Bosco Tan to the Australia team. Bosco and I have previously designed and delivered several major projects together and are looking forward to continuing our excellent collaboration under the Theatreplan Australia banner and supporting the Hong Kong team.’
In London, the Theatreplan team has also been expanded with the appointment of CAD technician Miguel Baztan, who will be working alongside BIM (Building Information Modelling) manager Marian Mihaescu, himself a fairly recent appointment having joined the practice in September 2014.
Theatreplan has also launched a new website that combines design creativity with the latest web technology for viewing on any device. The result is an efficient, informative website that includes a searchable projects database and details of the expanded 16-member team.
