The Recording, Radio and Film Connection (RRF) has appointed Mark Allen to the position Head of Admissions, where he will be responsible for connecting recording, film and radio industry veteran mentors with prospective student-apprentices in their geographical vicinity, and overseeing the process of students enrolling in RRF’s programmes.
Founded in 1983, Recording Connection Audio Institute is a network of educational, instructional and mentorship programmes for aspiring media professionals. It has placed more than 10,000 persons in professional recording studios located in cities throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. Persons admitted into the programme receive mentored instruction in audio engineering and/or music production from within a local, high-calibre recording studio, generally located within an hour of where they live. The institute’s approach is to select dedicated individuals for apprenticeship positions within local recording studios, thus enabling them to build local connections while they learn their craft.
Allen has more than 20 years’ experience in sales, marketing, telemarketing, commercial printing, and radio and TV advertising. He has served as Sales Manager for multimedia group SMP Inc, a national cable TV programme, an ESPN radio programme and a commercial printing division. Additionally, he has 30 years’ experience in music composition, recording and live performance, as well as close work alongside such Gary Numan, Peter Murphy, John Ashton of the Psychedelic Furs, and Mark Gemini Thwaite of the Mission UK, among others.
‘Mark is an excellent addition to our team,’ says RRF Chief Academic Officer/COO, Brian Kraft. ‘His experience across different market sectors, his passion for music production, his organisational expertise, and his strong work ethic – these are all tremendous assets for the RRF organisation, our students and our mentors. We are so pleased to have him aboard, and look forward to working with him.’
