Two Fohhn AT-50 loudspeakers have been flown from the lighting bar to form the main PA system, with four AT-09 speakers mounted on the walls either side of the stage for balcony seating and the first rows in-fill. A single Fohhn D-2.1500 DSP-controlled class-D amplifier drives the AT-50 loudspeakers, with a Fohhn D2.750 amplifier handling the four AT-09s. The system has been set up using Fohhn Audio Soft software, which gives remote access, from a central location, to a range of DSP functions for tailoring the room sound, balancing the speakers and adding subtle limiting as required.
‘We have been very pleased with the overall results,’ says Low Fold’s Mark Burford . ‘The 15-inch LF units in the AT-50s provide plenty of tight controlled bass, while the AT-09s fill in the balcony areas superbly, with very little difference of tone or coverage discernable as you move around the theatre. All in all, a balanced clear sound has been achieved throughout the auditorium.’
‘It sounds like a hi-fi but in an auditorium,’ adds Stavros Kokkinos, Head of Music at the college. ‘Crisp, accurate and with enough punch it delivers the results we want with music ranging from classical to the students' heavy metal bands. The added benefit of lockable, tamper proof, remote DSP settings is a big bonus too and invaluable to an institution like ours.’
