A Christian channel located in Calicut, India, Shalom TV previously needed a mastering engineer to master programmes prior to broadcast. ‘As we are using the AERO.one in our MCR there is no need to wait for a product to come from mastering,’ says Technical Director/Chief Audio Engineer Mukesh Chandra. ‘Now everything is done by AERO.one in real time without wasting time and quality.
AERO.one prevents loudness shifts and loss of surround sound using proprietary loudness control algorythms, as well as managing metadata and providing optional transmission encoding. Upmixing is provided by Linear Acoustic's Upmax algorithm, which provides 5.1-channel audio with complete downmix compatibility. The unit also offers AutoMAX-II auto-detection, which smoothly and automatically bypasses upmixing when content is provided in 5.1 channels.
According to Chandra, the station investigated several alternative processing solutions before discovering the AERO.one: ‘Sound plays a major role in broadcast, and we were in search of a good product that could give us a better sound with respect to other broadcast stations,’ he says. ‘When we tried the AERO.one, we found that it gave us a better signature sound than any other product.
‘AERO.one is doing the job in real time with better efficiency and better results,’ he adds. ‘It is helping to improve the audio quality of our channel a lot, as well as giving us a good signature sound.’
