Bringing his Moroccan themed restautrant concept to Beirut, Mourad ‘Momo’ Mazouz says he has created a ‘paradise of curiosity’. With the help of Annabel Karim Kassar and Violaine Jantet, he has mixed vintage furniture, designer pieces and made-to-measure fixtures in the shell of a hanging garden. For sound, he turned to QSC AcousticDesign AD-S52 surfacemount loudspeakers.
In opening Momo At The Souks, Mazouz says he wanted to remain faithful to his origins, and discovered in the Lebanese capital the perfect fusion between tradition and modernity in an Arabic Mediterranean city. Situated above the jewellery souks in the centre of the city, the new build restaurant overlooks the chaos of the city below. Contacted by Lebanese construction company Solidere, Technosound, provided sound distribution to the extended terrace, which has a capacity of more than 200 seats.
Distributed in Lebanon by Technosound, the AD-S52 could have been designed for the project – it uses a weather resistant enclosure to house incorporate a 5.25-inch LF transducer and a 1-inch neodymium tweeter. Available in black or white, it can be painted to match any decor.
Four QSC PLX2502 amplifiers have been used to drive the 22 AcousticDesign loudspeakers, which are fed either from a DJ set-up or an iPod for BGM, while an additional PLX3602 powers the restaurant sound. These PLX2 series uses PowerLight technology to combine low weight, high audio quality and reliability.
According to Technosound director of sales and marketing, Pierre Fahed, Mazouz delighted with the transparency and quality of the new fit-out.
