Dubbed ‘Britain’s newest global gateway’, the new terminal complex at Birmingham International Airport is the latest stage of an ongoing £100m redevelopment programme at the Midlands’ leading airport. Its opening attracted more than 300 VIP guests from UK industry and international commerce, who were addressed by a sound system from Pro Audio Systems.

Pro Audio Systems’ hire department designed and installed a bespoke sound reinforcement system to allow delivery of the opening formalities, comprising a stereo array of flown Meyer Sound UPJ loudspeakers, Yamaha LS9 digital mixing console and Sennheiser 3000-series wireless microphones. Members of the Pro Audio Systems airside support team operated the system and provided onsite technical support during the event.

The event culminated in the official opening of the new facility by the Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP. The £13m ‘One Terminal’ development has been designed to unify Birmingham’s security checkpoints, creating a single passenger flow and considerably simplifying operations.

Part of the airport complex, the new WDF World Duty Free store showcased the pioneering ~sedna presenter digital media system – also installed by Pro Audio Systems. More details here...
