A non-commercial recording studio created by Ryan Frankel as a project ‘to make music, for the love of music’, Jam Band Studio (JBS) is presently North Florida’s only CTD PhantomFocus MixRoom Studio.

With acoustic design by Carl Tatz, Jam Band Studio offers a pro-level environment for musicians in the Gainesville, Florida, area, offering a recording environment free of the constant clock-watching often involved with regular studios. ‘At Jam Band Studio, we can be as creative and weird as we want,’ Frankel says.

Jam Band Studio Jam Band Studio has been designed and constructed from the ground up overlooking Colclough Pond and features a 18ft-high tracking room with a full glass wall facing the pond. So that musicians can play together in the same room without the use of gobos, Frankel specified three acoustically treated amplifier closets, along with a large vocal booth that can also be used for drums.

The studio features a PFM UHD-1000 Master Reference Monitor System, hovering over a Carl Tatz Edition Dual 15L Console by Argosy with a pair of Silver Mesh Porcelain eChairs.

‘In an effort to make Jam Band Studio North Florida’s premier recording studio, I can’t speak highly enough about the team at Carl Tatz Design,’ Frankel says. ‘From the initial concept to the build out of the studio, the Carl Tatz Design team was knowledgeable, helpful, and incredible to work with. They helped with every aspect of the studio design and the results have been stunning.

‘Everyone who walks in and listens to the PFM UHD-1000 Reference Monitor System – from professional producers and engineers to recording artists – marvels at the clarity, depth and overall balance of the system. For the first time, it really feels like you can hear precision in the mix, details of the reverb tails, and a sense of three dimensions of the sources.’
