China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has approved Internet TV licences for HunanTV.com.
The broadcaster now has approval to develop an internet TV broadcast and control platform under the country’s fifth Internet TV content service and Internet TV integrated service licence, which was granted in late July.
In addition to providing content, Mango Media subsidiary Kuaile Yangguang Interactive Entertainment Media is researching TV payment and TV advertising systems, among other value-added services.
Cheng Hongrong – Assistant to the GM of Mango Media – reports that Kuaile Yangguang had invested roughly RMB30m (US$4.65m) to date in bandwidth, programming content and equipment, building a library of more than 70,000 hours of Internet TV content from Hunan TV & Broadcasting and other film and television production companies.
