An upgrading of one of the studios at the SAE Institute in Amsterdam has seen a 36-channel Audient ASP8024 large-format console in yet another educational facility. ‘The desk is an absolute treat,” says Audio Department head, Bruce Gibb.
Before being allowed individual use of the facility’s studios, audio engineering students are given tutoring sessions by the SAE Institute lecturing team, bulding their understanding their confidence in signal flow and introducing them to how the console works. ‘With individual studio time, students get to enjoy the ASP8024 for recording and mixing bands and other audio projects, in combination with an Avid Pro Tools system and a variety of outboard equipment and plug-ins,’ Gibb elaborates.
He credits the desk with enabling his students to grasp the principles and practice of audio engineering, thanks to its ‘user-friendly and flexible interface.’
The arrival of the ASP8024 is equally welcomed by students and teachers alike, with one student overheard talking about the ‘awesome new desk’.
As part of its ongoing equipment expansion, the SAE Amsterdam has grown to 1,200-sq-m of learning space over the 21 years since it opened its doors. It describes its latest acquisition as ‘a straightforward process.’
With students of many nationalities numbering over 300, the school offers a range of courses covering all aspects of the entertainment industry including Audio Production, Digital Film Making, and Game and Web Development.
