With some of the world’s leading-edge television equipment lined up for its new OB truck, the Australian OB Group was not about to cut corners on audio. And after 12 months’ construction, the truck is on the road.
Inside, the video equipmet includes a Sony MVS-6000 HD vision mixer along with Harris Platinum router with multiviewer, an EVS XT2Plus and X-File system, Chyron Hyper X3 HD, ony HSC 300HD cameras, Link Research wireless camera and various Sony VTRs and solid-state recorders.
The audio system is based around a Lawo Nova73 HD core with various Dallis I/O boxes connected to a mc2 56 32-fader mixing console. There are dual power supplies on all Dallis and HD Core systems, as well as a redundant controller card.
Whilethe OB Group pursed various options for the audio console and audio routing system, the final choice came down to two companies – with Lawo being judged best suited to the needs of the OB Group and its clients. With almost limitless expansion options and the simplicity of interfacing to other OB vans, the company already regards the mc2 56 as being the right choice.
Since the truck has hit the road, the system has impressed OB Group MD Colin Rothenberg: ‘We have had various high-profile jobs including jobs for Fox Sport,’ he says. ‘We also did the Nickelodeon Slime Fest. The system hasn’t missed a beat and our customers are very satisfied with the new truck.’
