Marking the 25th anniversary of Focusrite Audio Engineering, the UK mixing console pioneer has assembled a documentary and announced a competition.
Building on its development of the ISA series of modules for other mixing consoles – the first of which were delivered to Air Montserrat in 1987 – the company produced its first recording console in 1988, the Focusrite Forté. Only ten Studio Consoles were ever made, and six remain in operation, in South Africa, Spain, Japan, the US. The documentary tells the stories of these consoles and the people who used them.
Alongside the documentary, Focusrite is offering the opportunity to record a track with Grammy award-winning producer Guy Massey at London’s AIR Studios. The competition winners will spend an expenses-paid weekend where some of Focusrite’s original Rupert Neve designed recording console modules remain in use today.
Massey (The Beatles, Manic Street Preachers, Ed Sheeran) will be at the helm of the recording session, helping you to craft a song before recording and mixing. The finished song will be sent to one of London’s elite mastering engineers for finishing.
