The survey in world-wide and designed ‘to let the music software companies know what end-users think about music software piracy’.
A non-profit association representing the interests of the music software industry, the primary goal of the IMSTA is ‘to change end-user behavior in order to reduce the demand for pirated music software’. The organisation aims to do this through education rather than litigation. The survey being presented as an opportunity to communicate directly with music software industry executives, with its results distributed to all IMSTA member companies.
The survey ends on 31 December and can be entered through the IMSTA website.
The organisation is eager to stress that it does not partake in lawsuits and will not share names and email addresses with the music software companies: ‘IMSTA conducts this survey to get a better understanding of the end-user’s attitudes towards piracy and to follow any trends that occur from year-to-year. Therefore, IMSTA asks all participants to be completely honest in their responses as they will not be used against them in any way shape or form.’
Last and certainly not least, IMSTA will pick the top 100 useful comments and enter the respondents in a contest – the top 10 comments will receive software prizes forom IMSTA member companies.
