Hillsong sought a system that would provide fidelity, good dynamic range, high gain before feedback and consistent coverage throughout the listening area. The system would also have to cope equally well with intimate, quietly spoken material and full-blown rock bands. Andrew Crawford and Steve LeRoux head up the in-house audio team, and after several weeks of testing systems from several brands, opted for the Adamson set-up proposed and demonstrated by CMI Music & Audio and Norwest Productions.
The main Speaker System consists of 34 x Y-10 Co-Linear Line source elements with an under hang of eight Spektrix 15° elements, while the delays use 18 Metrix elements. Low-frequency duties fall to six T21 dual 21-inch subwoofers in a flown dual cardioid arrangement, with two T21 and Metrix subs beside stage and a further six Metrix subs are flown behind the main arrays.
‘We are extremely privileged and excited at being awarded the contract to supply a world-class facility,’ says Peter Trojkovic from CMI Music & Audio. ‘It is extra satisfying that the contract has been awarded because of the overall performance of the system and system design as supplied by Adamson Systems and CMI.’
The system is being installed by Brad Law and his team at Cuepoint and is expected to be up and running by early February 2011. In addition to the Baulkham Hills Campus, Hillsong have also chosen Adamson and CMI to provide an equally effective solution for their newly acquired Waterloo Campus by mid 2011.
